Home News & Announcements Applications Open for Level 2 (FUEBTS) Examination – 1 December 2025 to 1 February 2026 Applications Open for Level 2 (FUEBTS) Examination – 1 December 2025 to 1 February 2026 The European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) is delighted to announce that applications for the Level 2 Fellowship Examination (FUEBTS) of the Unified European Board of Thoracic Surgery (UEBTS) will open on 1 December 2025 and close on 1 February 2026. This examination is a joint initiative of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), and the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS). The next FUEBTS examination will take place in Athens on Saturday, 6 June 2026, immediately before the ESTS Annual Meeting. What is the FUEBTS Examination? The Level 2 examination represents the highest standard of thoracic surgery certification in Europe. Its purpose is to assess: Knowledge Clinical judgment Application of principles and practice of independent thoracic surgery Successful candidates will be awarded UEBTS Fellowship (FUEBTS) certification based on the newly developed combined thoracic syllabus. Who Can Apply?
