ESTS-Endorsed International Symposium on Multimodal Mesothelioma Therapy

Leading experts in thoracic oncology will convene in Vienna on November 13, 2025 at Klinik Floridsdorf in Vienna for the International Symposium on Multimodal Mesothelioma Therapy – After MARS2, a one-day event dedicated to the latest developments in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pleural mesothelioma.

Endorsed by the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) and organized by MEDahead Gesellschaft für medizinische Information m.b.H., the symposium will bring together a multidisciplinary faculty of thoracic surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and clinical researchers.

Local chairs Thomas Klikovits and Stefan Watzka, together with an esteemed international program committee, have curated a robust agenda aimed at fostering collaboration and advancing clinical practice.

Program Highlights Include:

  • Session 1 (09:00–10:30 CET)Histopathology & Systemic Therapy: Topics include molecular profiling, immunotherapy updates, and innovations in systemic treatment strategies.

  • Session 2 (11:00–12:30 CET)Multimodal Treatment Approaches: Featuring a keynote on the surgical landscape post-MARS2, radiation advances, and intracavitary therapeutic techniques.

  • Session 3 (13:30–15:00 CET)Individualized Treatment Strategies: Including a pro-con debate on pericardial and diaphragmatic resections, challenges among long-term survivors, and optimal patient selection.

  • Session 4 (15:30–17:00 CET)Staging & Case-Based Discussions: Introducing the new TNM-9 staging system and showcasing real-world clinical cases for interactive discussion.

With a focus on scientific innovation and cross-disciplinary dialogue, the symposium aims to enhance the understanding of mesothelioma care while promoting best practices across Europe and beyond.
