Background
I am a thoracic and general surgeon based in Constanța, Romania, with a focused interest in thoracic oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, and multidisciplinary care for patients with chest diseases.
My clinical practice covers the surgical management of pulmonary nodules and lung cancer, pleural disease, pneumothorax, mediastinal tumors, chest wall pathology, and thoracic trauma, as well as selected complex cases at the interface between thoracic and abdominal surgery. I have a strong focus on video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and am actively involved in the development of robotic-assisted thoracic surgery.
I am board-certified in both thoracic and general surgery — a dual specialty background that supports a broader surgical perspective in complex cases. I currently practice at Ovidius Clinical Hospital and within the public hospital system in Constanța, and contribute to teaching and academic activity at "Ovidius" University of Constanța.
My training has included international exposure to minimally invasive and robotic surgery in Paris, France, within the Ramsay Santé network. I am accredited on the Medtronic Hugo RAS robotic platform in general surgery and remain actively engaged in advancing robotic and minimally invasive thoracic surgery in Romania.
My practice is built on careful preoperative evaluation, honest communication with patients, evidence-based decision-making, and close collaboration within multidisciplinary teams, with the aim of delivering safe, modern, and personalized thoracic surgical care focused on oncological quality and recovery.
Other Interests
Beyond clinical practice, I am committed to medical education, surgical innovation, and the development of modern thoracic surgery pathways in Romania. I enjoy teaching medical students and junior doctors, with an emphasis on surgical anatomy, preoperative assessment, clinical reasoning, and the practical principles of safe thoracic surgery.
My main academic interests include minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), multidisciplinary thoracic oncology, and the use of digital tools to improve clinical workflows, documentation, and research.
I also have a growing interest in physician leadership, healthcare entrepreneurship, and the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in medicine — particularly as a tool for education, decision support, research, and the structured management of complex clinical data.
Outside medicine, I value time with my family, travel, history, and personal development, along with the balanced lifestyle that sustains long-term performance in a demanding surgical career.
Research
My research interests focus on surgical outcomes and perioperative risk assessment, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery, enhanced recovery pathways, thoracic oncology, postoperative complications, and patient-reported outcomes.
My doctoral research addresses gastroesophageal reflux disease in patients with morbid obesity and following bariatric surgery, examining symptom evolution, endoscopic findings, metabolic outcomes, and postoperative complications.
I am also actively interested in real-world clinical data, surgical registries, quality-of-life assessment, and the responsible use of digital tools and artificial intelligence to support clinical research and surgical decision-making.
