Staff member at Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Bronchoscopy Unit at the “A. Businco” Oncology Hospital - A.R.N.A.S. “G. Brotzu” of Cagliari, Italy. He holds national boards in thoracic surgery. After completing his training at the Vascular and Thoracic Surgery Unit at University Hospital, Cagliari (2010-2015), he also trained as a clinical fellow in thoracic surgery at the Division of Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation, ISMETT (UPMC) IRCCS, Palermo (2014-2017).

Other Interests

He participated in and performed more than 1400 vascular, general, and thoracic surgeries. His main research topics include thoracic trauma surgery, lung and mediastinal oncologic surgery, minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgery, advanced strategies of post-surgical functional recovery, and minimally invasive thoracic surgery in non-intubated patients.

Research

Recently, he has participated in developing international clinical practice guidelines for perioperative management and “enhanced recovery” after lung surgery, and in drafting protocols for surgical approaches to non-intubated lung ground-glass lesions. He is the author or co-author of several scientific articles, an editor and reviewer for international scientific journals, and a member of the National and International Surgical Society.
