Background
I am a thoracic surgery resident at Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. I graduated from Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine in 2020 and began my thoracic surgery residency in 2023 at a high-volume tertiary referral center. My clinical training includes extensive experience in minimally invasive thoracic procedures, particularly video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), as well as the management of thoracic malignancies, pneumothorax, and complex pulmonary diseases.
Alongside my surgical training, I maintain a strong interest in clinical and translational research. I have contributed to peer-reviewed publications focusing on thoracic surgical outcomes, pneumothorax risk factors, interstitial lung disease diagnosis, and prognostic biomarkers in lung cancer. I have also presented several case reports and clinical studies at national thoracic surgery and respiratory congresses.
My current research interests include postoperative outcomes after lung resection, predictors of complications following VATS procedures, and the integration of imaging-based biomarkers and biomechanical modelling into thoracic surgical research. Through involvement in international scientific societies such as ESTS, I aim to expand collaborative research opportunities, contribute to academic discussion within the field, and further develop my career as an academic thoracic surgeon.
