Background
Dr. Pei-Hsing Chen is a thoracic surgeon at National Taiwan University Hospital, Taiwan. His clinical and research interests focus on minimally invasive thoracic surgery, lung cancer, and multidisciplinary management of EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
He is a member of the IASLC Multidisciplinary Clinical Science Committee and has presented his work at major international oncology meetings, including WCLC, ESMO, and ASCO.
Research
His work particularly explores the role of primary tumor resection and local consolidative therapy in patients with oligometastatic or selected stage IV NSCLC following targeted therapy. He has led clinical research evaluating surgical outcomes, patterns of progression, imaging response, and the integration of surgery with systemic treatment in EGFR-mutant metastatic lung cancer.
Dr. Chen also has a strong interest in thoracic pathology and treatment-related pathologic response. His research examines histopathologic changes after targeted therapy and immunotherapy, including major pathologic response, residual viable tumor assessment, fibrosis, and their potential implications for surgical decision-making and prognosis.
