Home News & Announcements Call for Applications: ESTS WGTS Mid-Career Fellowship in Surgical Oncology Call for Applications: ESTS WGTS Mid-Career Fellowship in Surgical Oncology Empowering Women in General Thoracic Surgery The European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) is proud to announce a new initiative from the Women in Thoracic Surgery Committee: The ESTS WGTS Mid-Career Fellowship in Surgical Oncology. This fellowship is designed to support women in the first five years after completing training, helping them develop advanced knowledge and experience in thoracic oncology research methodology. The ultimate goal is to enable fellows to actively participate in innovative clinical trials and contribute to advancing care in thoracic cancer. Program Highlights Duration: 6–12 months Award: €10,000 to cover travel and accommodation Location: A leading European academic institution specializing in thoracic oncology trial design and conduct Focus: Lung cancer research with emphasis on multidisciplinary care and equitable access The fellowship offers exposure to academic thoracic surgeon mentors, collaboration with clinician-scientists, and opportunities to engage in projects that integrate laboratory and clinical research. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must: Be an ESTS member in good standing (membership invoices paid) Be proficient in English Have completed a general thoracic residency and be engaged in cancer research Preference will be given to applicants from developing countries.
