COPD treatment

To alleviate the COPD symptoms a series of drugs are already available. All of them enlarge the size of the airways reversing the effect of the disease.

It is possible that your doctor will adjust or indicate to start taken one or more of these drugs when preparing you for the surgery. It is also possible that you need to start or increase the doses of the medicine after the surgery for breathing better.

There are several systems to release the medication in your body:

  • Some are tablets for oral intake

  • Some are powder for inhalation

  • Some are liquids for nebulizers

It is very important that you manage and use correctly your specific inhaler device otherwise the medication will not reach the lungs, increasing the number of side-effects without providing you any improvement.
